Furigana Subtitles for Netflix – Privacy Policy

Furigana Subtitles for Netflix is a Chrome extension that adds furigana, English subtitles and word lookup to Japanese subtitles on netflix.com. The developer does not collect, store or sell personal data, and the extension has no analytics, tracking or ads. It is not affiliated with Netflix.

What the extension handles

• Subtitles. Japanese and English subtitle text is read and processed only in your browser. Subtitle files are downloaded from Netflix, the same way the Netflix player downloads them.
• Word lookup. Dictionary lookups use a dictionary bundled with the extension (JMdict, © EDRDG), so the words you click never leave your browser. If you click "More on jisho.org" in the lookup popup, jisho.org opens in a new tab with that word.
• Pronunciation. Audio uses Chrome's built-in speech synthesis. If Chrome uses an online voice (such as "Google 日本語"), Chrome sends the spoken reading to Google to generate the audio, under Google's privacy policy.
• Settings. Your settings (furigana on/off, size, English on/off, lookup on/off) are saved with chrome.storage.sync, so Chrome may sync them between your own signed-in browsers. The developer never receives them.

Payments (Premium)

English subtitles and word lookup are paid features. Payments are handled by ExtensionPay, with card processing by Stripe.

• The extension stores a random ExtensionPay key in chrome.storage.sync and sends it to extensionpay.com to check whether you have paid. It sends nothing else.
• When you pay or log in, you enter your email address and payment details on ExtensionPay's and Stripe's pages, not in the extension. They keep them under their own privacy policies. The developer can see your email address and payment status in ExtensionPay, and uses them only to provide and support Premium. Card details are never shared with the developer.

Data sharing

No data is sold or transferred to third parties for advertising, credit or any other purpose besides processing payments as described above.
